Frequently Ask Questions

"What are the benefits of joining a sorority?"

When joining the Greek Community you are joining a community that will support you and push you to do your best. Greek Life is about academic and social balance with service and working toward improving out community. Students involved in Greek Life are hard working and passionate in all that they do. When joining a sorority, you are joining a group of women who you can rely on for anything!

"If I join a sorority will I have time for other activities on campus?"

In our chapter, we encourage our members to be active on campus, as well as in our organization.  We welcome our members to attend our social events with other Greek Organizations to foster strong relationships with other members of the Greek community.  We also encourage our members to join other organizations on campus! Our members are known, not only for their successes in Pi Phi but for their accomplishments outside of it.  Various members of ours started the Lean-In chapter on Madison, She’s The First, Cardiac on Campus, pre-law fraternity Pi Alpha Delta, and many more. We also have active members in Relay for Life,  ASM, Homecoming Committee, PAVE and more.

"Will I be able to balance my academics and social life?"

Our chapter prides itself in our academic exellence. Our members are excited about their studies and are supportive of one another reaching their academic best. The WI Alpha chapter has an array of women pursing different degrees. With so many different passions we often hold study sisterhoods where our members get together and help each other in various subjects. We also have yummy snacks and get to spend time with some of our favorite people!

"What do we talk about during recruitment?"

Your conversations during recruitment are left up to you and the active member you're talking to! Take this time to share about yourself and what you're passionate about. We also encourage you to ask questions about our members and Pi Beta Phi, so you can get to know our organization more. This is a great time to get to know other women who share the same interests as you, so don't be afraid to ask about their lives and their interests!

"What should I wear for recruitment?"

For each round of recruitment you will be able to wear a different outfit. Please click here for more information.

"Will I be hazed?"

Pi Beta Phi has a strict no hazing policy and prohibits hazing of its pledging members and its active members.
